Texting a Thank You Note?

Texting a Thank You Note?

Sending a text message to thank someone for a wedding gift?!  While Emily Post might say this is a big FAIL, we have a different opinion.

Given the wide spread use of technology, we actually recommend sending a  text or email thank you as soon as you receive the gift, then send a follow-up hand written formal thank you on your lovely custom-designed wedding stationery.  Senders often know exactly when their gift was delivered, thanks to modern shipping notifications and online registries.  Then, when you inevitably get behind in hand writing your thank you notes and it gets later and later, your guest will at least know you received their gift and you can avoid that embarrassing and regrettable query — “just checking, did you ever get our gift??”
